Maria-Christina Harper

Maria-Christina Harper is an award-winning harpist, composer, and music therapist based in the UK, uniquely positioned at the intersection of spiritual jazz, avant-garde, and therapeutic practice. After studying at the Royal Academy of Music and Roehampton University, where she obtained her MA in Music Therapy, she is working on her PhD in Composition at the University of Surrey.

Harper has secured high-profile features, including performing on Later with Jools Holland (BBC2) and recording for BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6Music, alongside collaborations with artists like Katie Melua and Soft Cell. Her extensive performing credits include the Royal Albert Hall, and the Montreal Jazz International Festival.

In 2025, she recorded her second album, Dialogue of Thoughts, with the Harper Trio at Abbey Road Studios. This spiritual jazz album is set release 24 October 2025, supported by a November 2025 tour and a performance at the EFG London Jazz Festival 2025, having already garnered radio plays on BBC Radio and Jazz FM.

Beyond her performance career, Maria-Christina is a practicing music therapist, Teaching at Roehampton University and collaborating with NHS England recognized companies like Breathe, running a project at the Athens State prison since 2017, and co-founding the NGO ‘Be With’ to deliver music and therapy in health settings.

Maria-Christina joins One Jazz to present Sonic Crossroads, a special show to co-incide with the release of her new album.
