One Jazz has partnered once again with world-renowned UK music education and mentoring organisation Tomorrow’s Warriors and Jazz FM UK for a second series of  I Am Warrior, introducing listeners to three more young and exciting emerging artists in the genre, adding broadcasting to their portfolio. They’ll showcase music from classic artists who’ve inspired them, Tomorrow’s Warriors alumni, and fellow creatives working in the UK jazz scene today. These shows will air on both One Jazz and Jazz FM in a limited series of six programmes.

Christ-Stéphane Boizi is a trombonist, composer, and bandleader making waves in the UK jazz scene, studying at Trinity Laban. He draws inspiration from legendary trombonists J.J. Johnson and Slide Hampton, as well as hard bop icons like Horace Silver and Art Blakey.

Why did you want to take part in this series?

“I Am Warrior is a great opportunity to gain more experience in the area of radio and broadcasting. As a performer and bandleader, I spend a lot of time in front of audiences and I have learnt to communicate quickly and effectively. Learning to stick to a script, keep folks engaged and be able to convey information in a timely manner will be an interesting experience that I am looking forward to.”

What are you excited about?

“Having the opportunity to dig into new music that I haven’t checked out before. It’s going to be a super humbling experience. Can’t wait to check out some killing music with you guys. See you soon”
