Trinidadian poet Anthony Joseph returns with The Ark, a spiritual, jazz-rooted collaboration with producer and guitarist Dave Okumu, recorded in the same sessions that made Rowing Up River To Get Our Names Back. The album continues Joseph’s exploration of what he calls “modern great black music” – a fluid blend of spoken word, jazz improvisation, Afro-Carib rhythm, electronic wildings – as the likes of ‘James’ and ‘Blue Susan’ evoke illicit vapours of sound through hybrid live instrumentation, as Joseph references spirit worlds and etheric geography against a stellar ensemble cast including Tom Skinner, Eska Mtungwazi and Richard Spaven.
This is our Chosen One.
And Anthony is a One Jazz host!
