Christine Kamau is a Kenyan trumpeter, composer and performing artist. Based in Nairobi and with a focus on African jazz, her trumpet playing has been described as ‘a wide-eared approach to jazz, paying attention to various styles without losing the jazz tonality’.
Her compositions fuse jazz with the East African music elements of benga, chakacha and rhumba. A keen collaborator and campaigner for music as a tool for propagating unity, Christine Kamau performs at music festivals in Africa and beyond and now joins One Jazz to present the Jazz In Africa show.
