Niv Hammond got his taste for jazz through a childhood of hearing his parents’ soul and acid jazz classics. This love of Incognito, Reel People and The Sunburst Band was reinforced by annual trips to the Love Supreme Festival and frequent visits to gigs at The Bear Club in his home town of Luton.
Teacher by day, Jazz DJ by night, Niv’s tune selections feature music across the spectrum – from broken beat and jazztronica through to jazz fusion and jazz house. He has two fortnightly shows on Luton Urban Radio and a monthly residency at Perry Louis’s Jazz Jam. Live performances followed at jazz events on a local bandstand, which gave valuable experience of responding to a live audience. With regular engagements at Jazz Festivals in Wycombe and Watford, Niv is enjoying opportunities to share great music in both studio and live settings.
