A second album from Iranian/English guitarist Karim Saber packed full of distinctive tunes and delivered by a fine band including Alex Wilson on keys and the soaring wordless vocals of Aitzi Cofre Real. Fellow guitarist Ant Law pays tribute in the sleeve notes:
“Looking around in 2025, you usually have to look pretty hard to find anything joyous or positive …unless you happen to be holding this album in your hands. There’s no shortage of great guitarists in London, but when Karim Saber returned here in 2018 it was clear to me that we had one more. I remember playing some standards with him and coming to that realisation, back when he hadn’t yet finished the compositions which became his debut album Transmission. Not long afterwards, I was lucky to see him perform that music for the first time ever in North London – the club was absolutely rammed – a good sign. Transmission was a serious statement of intent, but this new album goes further, and opens up an exciting new chapter. What is now clear to me is that we also have a truly great composer in our midst.” Ant Law
This is our Chosen One.
