One Jazz introduces The Blue Note 60, a choice 60 minute selection of moods and grooves from the halcyon years of the iconic jazz imprint. Blue Note has been the home of jazz music since 1939 and continues to provide a platform for the world’s best to this day.
On The Blue Note 60 we home in on a glorious period between the mid 1950s and early 1970s when a large family of artists collaborated on memorable and evergreen recordings. These are some of the most cherished of jazz sounds, the majority of which were personally overseen by engineer Rudy Van Gelder at his famous Englewood Cliffs studio in New Jersey. These works generated a signature sound, the immediately identifiable classic Blue Note sound that stands as a unique soundtrack to American music history.
Hear The Blue Note 60 at 2pm (UK) Saturdays and Sundays here on One Jazz and through “Listen Again” on our official app and website.
