DC Jazz Festival: A Special Preview
The DC Jazz Festival returns to One Jazz with a special programme celebrating the artists, sounds and spirit of this year’s festival. Curated and hosted by DC Jazz Festival President and CEO Sunny Sumter, the programme explores the remarkable breadth of contemporary jazz and the vital role Washington, DC continues to play in its evolution.
Featuring music from acclaimed artists including Dee Dee Bridgewater, Bill Frisell, Joshua Redman, Donald Harrison, Emmet Cohen and Etienne Charles, the programme also introduces some of the most exciting emerging voices in jazz today, including Brandon Woody, Isaiah Collier and Domas Zerimskas.
At the heart of the programme is the extraordinary depth of Washington, DC’s own jazz community, with music from Allyn Johnson, Heidi Martin, Corcoran Holt, Nasar Abadey and more.
Together, these selections offer a tantalising preview of the music coming to Washington for this year’s DC Jazz Festival, while celebrating the diversity, creativity and global connections that continue to drive jazz forward.
