Ahead of the release of his new album On Higher Dreams on 30th May 2025, for London label Wah Wah 45s, Italian guitarist IKE (aka isaac de martin) has shared a mixtape of jazz made specifically in Italy. He begins with some classics that were his first embrace with jazz, then moves to music from contemporaries and friends, cinematic jazz that has a distinct Italian trademark. The mixtape includes jazz-adjacent selections to touch on different parts of Italy from south to the north.
IKE’s influences reach much further and wider than just Italy but here he’s challenged himself to stay at home, a challenge that was fun to curate and is an enjoyable listen.
